Daily UI Challenge 004: Calculator

At first I was not very excited too design a calculator. The prompt was pretty open ended, and suggested thinking about the type of calculator (scientific, numeric) and if it would be a specialty calculator of some sort.

I brainstormed for a bit and decided I wanted to create a fun, educational kids calculator! Maybe it's the nerd in me, but I was thinking about how so many kids have calculators readily accessible and most likely reduces their inclination to actually learn math. I know personally, I have been known to get stuck trying to subtract long form - I just never have to do it, so I don't even think about it.

I designed this tablet app called "Monster Math" where kids (or adults) can enter a simple equation, and then the app actually goes through a series of steps that the user swipes through explaining how to find the answer.
